International Symposiums of the C.R.D.H.:

Each year, the CRDH organizes an international symposium which allows scholars and professionals to come together to discuss the large questions recent international legal news concerning human rights.

  • The 14th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: November 7-8, 2019. Organized in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, on the subject of ‘70 Years after the Adoption of the Geneva Convention: Is International Humanitarian Law Confronted with New Challenges? Reflections on Normative Interactions.’
  • The 13th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: December 13-14, 2018. A portrait of ‘70 Years after the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: the Founding Principles of Human Rights Confronted with Challenges with New Technology.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 12th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: January 18-19, 2018. On the subject of ‘Reforming Human Rights. The Criticism of Practices.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 11th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: November 7-8, 2016. On the subject of ‘The System for Protecting the United Nations Human Rights: Present and Future.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 10th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: November 19-20, 2015. On the subject of ‘The European Court of Human Rights. A Necessary Confidence, A Reinforced Authority.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 9th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: November 10, 2014. On the subject of ‘The Dynamic System of Traits of the United Nations Relative to Human Rights.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 8th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: November 21-23, 2013 at the Parthenon and the Irish Cultural Center in the frame of Olivier de Frouville, professor at the IUF. On the subject of ‘legal Cosmopolitanism’ concerning ‘A Democratic Theory on International Law.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 7th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: Organized by Paris II (Asas) on June 13-14, 2013 at the International Institute of Human Rights (in Strasbourg). On the subject of ‘The Prevention of Human Rights Violations.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 6th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: Organized by the C.R.D.H. under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Foriegn and European Affairs on May 15, 2012 at the Ministry of Foriegn and European Affairs in Paris. On the subject of ‘The International Convention for the Protection of Persons Against Forced Disappearances.’ The discussions were published in the journal Droits Fondamentaux.
  • The 5th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: Organized with the LARJ (a part of the University of Littoral) from December 16-17, 2011 at Paris II under the direction of professors Emmanuel Decaux and Mouloud Boumghar. On the subject of ‘The New Tendencies of the Right of the People with Self Determination.’
  • The 4th International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: For the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted in New York in1989, the symposium will be held on October 15-16, 2009. In partnership with the International Catholic Child Bureau (BICE) on the subject of ‘The Convention of the RIghts of the Child, the Implementation and Effectiveness: Crossed Expressions.’
  • The 3rd International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: Co-organized with the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, in Athens, on May 16-17, 2008 at the Université Paris II. On the subject of ‘Poverty, a Challenge for Human Rights.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’
  • The 2nd International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: Organized with the Centre Thucydide de Paris II, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during November 2006. On the subject of ‘Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Thirty Years After the Helsinki Act- Assessment and Perspectives in New Europe.
  • The 1st International Symposium of the C.R.D.H.: Organized in October 2004 on the subject of ‘United Nations and Human Rights- What is at Stake and Challenges of Reform.’ The discussions were published on ‘chez Pedone.’

The Days of International Criminal Justice

  • For three years, the C.R.D.H. has teamed up with the Centre Thucydide to analyse and research international relations, and to organize every year the Days of International Criminal Justice, a large symposium designed as annual meeting around developments of international criminal justice for specialists, professors, and professionals.
  • The 5th Days of International Criminal Justice took place January 30-31, 2020. Discussions are to be published by ‘chez Pedone’ in 2021.
  • The 4th Days of International Criminal Justice took place January 31- February 1, 2019. Discussions were published by ‘chez Pedone’ under the title ‘The Swallow and the Turtle.’
  • The 3rd Days of International Criminal Justice took place February 15-16, 2018. Discussions were published by ‘chez Pedone’ under the title ‘The Changes in International Criminal Justice.’
  • The 2nd Days of International Criminal Justice took place February 2-3, 2017. Discussions were published in the journal Droits Fondamentaux.

Other Symposiums:

  • As part of a Marie Curie grant from the European Commission that was awarded to Ottavio Quirico for two years (2010-2012), an international symposium was organized in June 2012 with the European University Institute in Florence on the subject of ‘Human Rights and What is at Stake Environmentally. Ottavio Quirico is a researcher with the C.R.D.H.
